Technical drawings of sets and designs helps various teams within an art department visualise and build the sets, giving them a better idea on space and how to construct.
Using a drafting board, I traced over the layout of the building we will be using for our sets, using this space to build up my own spaces, including my set, the audience, cameras etc.
- 4 metres must be kept around each part of the set, to enable space for equipment and fire escape
- Bold, thick lines are used to indicate solid walls, hatching is used to indicate it is a solid wall/has another viewable side to it
- Dashed lines indicates items above the floor (syclorama)
- Arrows indicate doorways / exits
- Doors must show which way they open
- Nothing can be drawn freehand in a technical drawing, it must be neat and to scale
- Information e.g. name of the show, artist, studio etc must be shown in the bottom right of the image
- Tools used: set squares, french curves, stencils, scale ruler, ruler, pencil(s), masking tape, tracing paper, drafting board
