Illustrator can be used to graphics, line-art and to link to the lazer cutter, allowing you to create images and works with much tighter and neater precision than by hand.
Using the path-tool, I loosely traced over an image of a sheep, first doing the full outline of the sheep, changing the colour to red to indicate that this is the shape I want to cut out of my material. After this, I did the internal lines, such as the ears, face etc, highlighting this in green to indicate that I only wanted to engrave these parts.
To laxer cut items, you must use the pathfinder tool, otherwise the machine will not recognise the lines.
